Where substantial heat is generated from the production process, it is necessary to remove this heat before adopting the open space cooling system.

Proper sizing and design of the exhaust hood is also important in order to prevent the heat being the heat being spilled over to the rest of the workspace.
If the heat emission source is concentrated at one place, exhaust hood with properly sized fan and duct system would be effective in extracting this heat and sent to outside the workspace.
The distance from the hood to the source and the designed capture velocity upstream of the hood face should be well calculated in order that all the heat emitted is captured.
